Camry Immersions with Ahmed Al Mustafa, 2019
Camry Immersions with Ahmed Al Mustafa is a tapestry of sounds that explore the contested space between Sudan, and the San Francisco Bay. The piece captures soundscapes as experienced on a long drive punctuated by phone calls, indecisive fingers flicking through radio stations, and languid moments of reflection. The driver’s world appears through the windshield of an old Camry, where their view glitches between the Golden Gate Bridge, and Shambat Bridge - which overlooks the two Niles. Suspended in uncomfortable liminality, they ground themselves in the croons of Ahmed Al Mustafa.
