Wast El Zuhoor Mutsawir, 2018
Wast El Zuhoor Mutsawir playfully explores the role of flowers, and the ubiquitous ‘zuhriya’ as a pillar of Sudanese aesthetics. The piece incorporates snapshots of potted flowers from family photos between 1970-2000, which are interwoven with clips of Zeidan Ibrahim and Omar' Al Shair’s performance of the seminal song ‘Wast El Zuhoor Mutsawir’ (Pictured Among the Flowers). The format of the video mimics that of a song visualizer, reminiscent of early YouTube lyric videos in the 2000’s
